Love is in the Air: Here Comes the Bride

While the rest of the group processed, Papa Plane and I stood in the doorway to the vestibule, out of sight from the seated guests.

As the last of the kiddos made their way down the aisle and to their seats, we got into position.

I have never once wavered on my decision to walk down the aisle to Aqualung’s Brighter Than Sunshine on my wedding day. I have known this was the song from the moment I heard it many, many years ago. Click above to listen along.

Even though I held it together all morning and even during our first look, as soon as I stepped into the sanctuary, I lost any composure I had remaining. My walk down the aisle was blinded by lots and lots of happy tears.

Mr. Plane got pretty choked up himself.

Don’t even get me started on how the screen was present for the entire ceremony. I don’t want to talk about it.

Once we reached the front and the music faded out, Pastor Mark said a quick prayer to begin the ceremony:

“Dear Heavenly Father, Lord of heaven and earth, we praise you for your goodness and your many gifts. Today especially we thank you for the gift of marriage. We thank you for the joy that Troy and Maria have found in each other. And we thank you for the love and trust in which they enter this covenant of marriage. Be with us this evening as they commit their love and fidelity to each other before You and all gathered in this place. Bless their union and sustain them through rich as well as lean times. May today be the beginning of a grand adventure of love in your son Jesus. In whose name we pray, Amen.”

He then asked, “Who gives this woman to be married to this man?” to which Papa Plane responded, “I do” and handed me over to Mr. Plane with a hug and a kiss.

Our wedding ceremony was officially underway.
